Legal Aspects of the Fire Investigation

Lesson Purpose:

This is part one of a multi-part series on the legal aspects for the fire investigator. This discussion is about the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and how it applies to the fire investigator.

Training Objectives:

  1. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the Legal Aspects of a Fire Investigation, passing an online assessment with a score of 80% or higher.
  2. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and how it applies to a fire investigation, passing an online assessment with a score of 80% or higher.
  3. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the different theories of search at a fire scene, passing an online assessment with a score of 80% or higher.

This is part three of a multi-part series on the legal aspects for the fire investigator. This discussion is about the legal requirements of the U.S. Supreme Court Case Michigan v. Clifford.

Training Objectives:

  2. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the facts in the U.S. Supreme Court Case Michigan v. Clifford, passing an online assessment with a score of 80% or higher.
  3. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the legal requirements under Michigan v. Clifford set down for fire investigators, passing an online assessment with a score of 80% or higher.
